Our History
The Beginning of a Dream
Two visionaries from Switzerland arrived in Siem Reap with a belief that every child deserves access to quality education. In a place with limited opportunity, they planted the seeds of Salariin Kampuchea — a safe space where children could grow and build a better future.
Teaching the Future
Long before digital skills were seen as essential, we launched free computer classes to prepare our students for a future where technology would open doors to new careers and ideas.
A Year of Growth
Through our partnership with DPETNS in Ireland, our teachers received advanced training to improve their methods. That same year, we relocated to a new campus — more space, more students, and more opportunities to grow.
Sustainable Steps Forward
In collaboration with Bookbridge, we developed a business model to ensure financial sustainability. That same year, our community library opened its doors — creating a hub for learning, reading and connection for all students.
Learning Through Crisis
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we adapted quickly — offering online classes via Zoom and Telegram. We also supported vulnerable families with food aid, proving our commitment to care in times of need.
Making Strides
Returning to normal after COVID, our students were more dedicated to learning, growing and connecting. This triumph was celebrated with the graduation of a record number of students. Our library also grew to 10,000 books, which has helped move our students' learning forward.
Supporting Children Through Crisis
In July, the conflict between Thailand and Cambodia displaced many families. With many of these families moving with nothing, we at Salariin Kampuchea adapted quickly in this crisis. We fundraised to feed and provide necessities for the displaced families, always committed to providing care in times of need.
